What it covers

The whole annual cycle, tracked

A tracker for each part of running an SMSF, built around what trustees and auditors actually ask for. Each one flags what needs attention, and they all roll up into one page, What’s Due Next, and an Overview of the whole fund.

  • Annual compliance calendar

The 11 recurring annual tasks, judged against the due dates you enter. Give each task to someone in the fund, and see just yours.

  • Investment strategy

Your written strategy, each review signed off, and target versus actual allocation in dollars, shown in a chart.

  • Annual audit checklist

A 19-item document pack, trustee confirmations, each written request from the auditor with its 14 days counted, the findings and lodgement dates.

  • Trustee minutes

Numbered resolutions that can't be edited or deleted in the app (only deleting the whole fund removes them). Trustees acknowledge each one, and a mistaken minute is voided with a reason and stays in the log.

  • Fund dealings check

Six yes / no questions the auditor asks about members, related parties and borrowing, signed by every trustee.

  • Death benefit nominations

Expiry dates and warnings, a coverage grid showing every member at a glance, and renewals handled properly.

  • Contribution caps

Each member's contributions for the year against the caps for that year, plus a record of downsizer contributions with the facts an auditor checks.

  • Minimum pension

The age-based minimum worked out to the cent, pro-rated for a mid-year start, with payments so far and whether you're on track.

  • TBAR events

Each transfer balance account event, its reporting deadline, and whether it has been reported.

  • Insurance reviews

The trustees' consideration of insurance for each member, and why.

  • Document register

Where each key document is kept and when it was last reviewed, with a flag on records kept for less than the 10 years the ATO expects.

  • Succession Plan & Key Information

The contacts, accounts, investments and places things are kept that someone would need if they had to step in, with search and your own sections.

  • Fund profile

Trustee type, ABN, trust deed date and a trustee register with each declaration. A fund that pays no pensions can hide the pension pages.

  • Change history

Who added, changed or deleted what, and when, with the old and new values.

See the whole fund at a glance

So nothing depends on remembering which page to check.

  • What's Due Next

Everything that needs attention across every tracker, on one page, with about 20 data checks for records that contradict each other or are quietly missing.

  • Overview

The fund on one screen: what's due in the next 12 months, audit readiness, pension, caps and nominations, and what has been recorded so an empty fund isn't mistaken for a healthy one.

  • New financial year checklist

Steps that tick themselves from your records, so year two doesn't start from a blank page. Nothing is carried forward for you.

  • Search

One box that finds records, pages, sections and glossary terms, and matches words loosely.

Work with your accountant and your auditor

Everyone sees the same record, and only the trustees can change it.

  • A view-only seat for your accountant

They see every page and can download the data, but can't change a record. The app enforces that, not just hidden buttons.

  • Notes and questions

An accountant can ask a question on any page, the trustees reply, and the thread is marked resolved. Trustees can choose an email notice when someone posts.

  • Audit pack for the auditor

One printable document with everything auditors commonly ask for, built from your records.

  • Read-only auditor link

Share the audit pack by a link that works for 7, 14 or 30 days, needs no account, shows one year only and can be withdrawn at any time.

If your fund has a company as trustee

Choose "A corporate trustee (a company)" when you create the fund, or later on Fund Profile, and the wording and records change to suit.

  • Directors, not co-trustees

Invitations, sign-offs and minutes say "director". A register records each director's appointment, trustee declaration, whether they have a Director ID (the ID itself is never stored) and which member they are.

  • Dates for ASIC and the ATO

When a director is appointed or stops, Cockpit shows a "Tell ASIC by" and a "Tell the ATO by" date, each 28 days on, until you enter the date it was done. It records what you enter, and can't see ASIC's or the ATO's records.

  • The yearly ASIC review

Enter the review date and it becomes a due date on the compliance calendar, with a note about the registered office, the fee and the annual solvency resolution.

  • A history of trustee changes

If the fund moved from individual trustees to a company, record when and when the ATO was told. An earlier year's audit pack shows the structure that applied at that year's end.

  • Checks that the records fit together

Points out a member who isn't recorded as a director, or a director who isn't a member. These are prompts to look, never findings.

  • Company documents and minutes

The Document Register suggests the documents a trustee company usually has. Minutes are headed "Record of decisions by the directors" and remind you to keep the signed copy.

Dates in your diary and your inbox

Reminders are opt-in, and nothing is sent for a practice fund.

  • Private calendar link

Every due date across your funds in Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar, with alerts before each one.

  • Weekly summary and heads-up emails

A weekly or monthly email (your choice) when something needs attention, and one email as an important date gets close, sent once for each stage.

Learn it, try it, take it with you

Low risk to start, and your records are always yours.

  • A practice fund

A fund full of fictional data with guided exercises and a reset button. Learn your way around before you enter anything real.

  • Plain-English guides and glossary

Guides to the audit pack, nominations, the minimum pension and more, a glossary of every term the app uses, and help on every page.

  • Sources

A public list of the ATO pages behind the rules the app uses, what each is used for and when we last checked it.

  • Download everything

The whole fund as one Excel workbook, or a full pack of Excel, CSV and JSON files that opens without Cockpit.

  • Several SMSFs, one login

Everything you look after in one list, with status filters and a download of the whole list. Invitations to join a fund show up there too.

The death benefit nominations tracker for a sample fund, listing each member's nomination type, nomination date, expiry date and beneficiaries, with a green Valid status on both.
Death benefit nominations: each one's type, dates and status, with a warning before one expires (sample data).
The annual audit checklist for a sample fund: four stages from auditor engaged to return lodged, with 8 of 15 document items sent, and the auditor's details below.
The annual audit checklist: what to gather, what's been sent, and where you're up to (sample data).

It’s general information and record-keeping, not financial, tax or legal advice. It doesn’t lodge anything with the ATO, and it doesn’t track your investments, prices or cash balances: it records compliance, not the fund’s assets.
