For accountants and SMSF specialists

Your SMSF clients arrive at year-end organised.

Your clients keep their fund’s compliance tasks, deadlines and records in one place. You get a view-only seat, so the paper trail is already assembled before you ask for it.

What you see

  • A view-only seat in the fund

Your client invites you. You can look at every page and download the data, but you can't change anything, and that is enforced by the app itself.

  • The audit checklist

The 19-item document pack, the trustee's confirmations, the auditor's findings and the lodgement dates, so you can see how ready the fund is.

  • Who changed what, and when

Every record added, changed or deleted is logged with who did it, when, and the old and new values. Trustee minutes and the change history can't be edited or deleted.

  • A full Excel export

The whole fund as one workbook, whenever you want it.

The annual audit checklist as an invited accountant sees it: a view-only access banner across the top, with the fund's audit progress below.
The accountant's seat: everything visible, nothing editable (fictional sample data).

What it flags early

Each of these is flagged on the fund’s What’s Due Next page, and you see the same page as your client. The flags are a guide, not advice: dates and figures are worth confirming.

  • A pension minimum that is on track to be underpaid before 30 June
  • A binding death benefit nomination that has expired, or a member with none
  • An investment strategy review that has lapsed
  • Audit findings left open from last year

Where it won’t help (yet)

  • No bank feeds, financial statements, tax return or lodgement. Your existing software still does that.
  • Documents are registered, not stored. The files themselves stay where they are today.
  • Contribution caps don’t yet model carry-forward or bring-forward.
  • TBAR deadlines use the quarterly rule, so a fund where every member has under $1m may show as overdue too early.
  • Everything is entered by the trustee, so you’ll still want to check it.

SMSF Cockpit provides general information and record-keeping only. It’s not financial, tax or legal advice, it doesn’t lodge anything with the ATO, and it doesn’t track your investments, prices or cash balances.

Try the accountant demo

A fully filled-in fictional fund, seen through the view-only access your clients would give you. The sign-in details are filled in for you: press Sign in, then open the fund and look at any page or download the data.

This is a live, view-only login on a fund made up of fictional data. Nothing you do can change anything, so it’s safe to share with colleagues.

We’re looking for a few practices to try SMSF Cockpit with a couple of their SMSF clients. It starts with a 20-minute call. Your clients then use it as the year goes on, and you tell us honestly what works and what doesn’t. We’ll measure with you how much chasing it saves, and share the combined results with every practice that takes part.

Taking part is free. Leave your details and we’ll be in touch.
